Gabrielle Union's High, Curly Ponytail is Perfect for a Miami Birthday Bash

Gabrielle Union has always been a standout with Curly Ponytail, typically favouring the sleek and straight variety, a la Ariana Grande or Jennifer Lopez. We can vividly recall her stunning look at the Versace show during Milan Fashion Week last September – the epitome of a high ponytail, the kind you’d find illustrated next to “high ponytail” if it were in the dictionary. However, Union has just demonstrated that a high ponytail doesn’t need to be perfectly sleek to achieve perfection.

Sharing a carousel of videos and photos on Instagram from her time in Miami on Wednesday, January 17, Union showcased her radiant self during the birthday celebrations of her husband, Dwyane Wade, who received the surprise news of a commemorative statue for his iconic career with the Heat.

Sporting a wispy, fire-engine-red halter dress perfectly in tune with the Miami vibes, Union’s curls took center stage. Hairstylist Wankaya Hinkson embraced the city’s infamous humidity rather than fighting it, resulting in a high ponytail that transitions flawlessly from a smooth base to a cascade of fluffy, fabulous curls. The wind, and even Union herself, couldn’t resist playing with the soft, bouncy curls – a fact evident in nearly half of the photos she shared on her grid and Stories.

In the caption of the grid post, Union aptly described the overall vibe as “Not a mood more like a whole experience,” a sentiment that resonated strongly with her fans. Comments flooded in, with one admirer stating, “She’s literally a Barbie doll LIKE WHATTT😍,” and another expressing, “This is giving maaaaaain character enerrrrgy!!!!!! 🔥❤️😍”

Let’s be real; her ponytail alone, with those life-giving curls, exudes main character energy. Yet, this is Gabrielle Union we’re talking about – her little finger radiates more main character energy than most people do in their entire bodies.
